The Igbo National Council (INC) has announced that its much-anticipated cultural gathering, the “Igbo Cultural Conference”, will hold on Saturday, 27th September 2025, at the Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, formerly Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Abia State.

The historic event is set to bring together political leaders, traditional rulers, cultural custodians, scholars, and the Igbo intelligentsia for a robust dialogue on the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Igbo identity, values, and heritage.

In his goodwill message, Dr. Alex C. Otti, the Executive Governor of Abia State, expressed his support for initiatives that foster cultural revival and unity among Ndigbo, describing the forthcoming conference as “a rallying point for redefining the Igbo spirit in the modern era.”

Other eminent personalities expected at the conference include:

Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, Deputy Governor of Abia State

Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika (Rtd.), former Chief of Army Staff

HRM Eze Linus Nto Mba, Chairman, Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers

According to the organizers, the Igbo Cultural Conference will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, cultural displays, and resolutions aimed at strengthening Igbo socio-political relevance, deepening intergenerational knowledge transfer, and repositioning the Igbo nation in Nigeria and the global community.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mazi Chima Stanley PhD, Chairman of the Igbo National Council, Abia State, noted that the conference would serve as a “cultural renaissance platform to reinvigorate Igbo traditions and ensure the protection of our collective heritage.”

The Igbo Cultural Conference is expected to draw participants from across the South-East, South-South, and the Igbo diaspora, making Aba, once again, the heartbeat of Igbo cultural, political, and intellectual discourse.

The Igbo National Council, therefore, invites all sons and daughters of Igbo land—home and abroad, traditional leaders, academics, youth groups, women organizations, and stakeholders—to participate actively in this historic event. Attendance and contributions will not only shape the resolutions of the conference but also secure the cultural legacy of the Igbo nation for generations to come.
