The meeting, chaired by Mazi Peter Agwu Okorie, was marked by a spirit of purpose, cooperation, and renewed zeal. In his remarks, the Chairman described the forthcoming inauguration as “a defining moment for the Bende Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo.” He emphasized that the chapter is not just an organization but “a rallying point for the cultural identity, socio-political participation, and unity of the Igbo people in Bende.”

Mazi Okorie further called on all members to demonstrate commitment and unity of purpose as preparations advance. He highlighted that the proposed inauguration, tentatively slated for 24th or 31st October 2025, will serve as a platform to showcase the strength, orderliness, and progressive vision of the Igbo community in Bende. “We must all work as one family. This inauguration is not for a few individuals—it is for the entire Bende, and we must make it an event of pride and success,” he asserted.

Also speaking, the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Chukwuma Egwuonwu, commended the dedication of members and encouraged everyone to put in their best to give Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Bende LGA Chapter, a lift that will make it a model for other local chapters. He noted that with proper mobilization and coordination, Bende will take its rightful place in the larger Ohanaeze family. “Let us see this as a collective project. Our unity and active participation will define the success of our inauguration and the strength of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Bende,” Hon. Egwuonwu added.

Adding prestige to the gathering, the 2nd Vice Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Abia State Chapter, Elder Onyedikachi Iroegbu Samuel, graced the meeting and delivered an inspiring address. Elder Iroegbu commended the leadership of the Bende Chapter for their organizational drive and sense of purpose. He gave valuable insights on what is expected from the Bende Chapter in aligning with the State and National frameworks of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo. He stressed the importance of unity, grassroots mobilization, and transparent leadership as pillars upon which a strong and respected chapter must stand. “Bende is strategic to the growth of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Abia State. You must lead by example, showing the true Igbo spirit of discipline, cooperation, and progress,” he advised.

In her goodwill message, the Woman Leader, Mrs. Nnenna Chukwu, reassured the gathering that the women of Bende Local Government Area are solidly behind the program. She affirmed their readiness to mobilize and participate fully in all activities leading up to the inauguration. “Bende women understand the importance of this movement, and we are ready to stand with our men to make this inauguration a success,” she said with conviction.
