  SUCCESSFUL INAUGURATION OF THE NEW EXECUTIVES OF OHANAEZE NDI IGBO BENDE LGA CHAPTER: A CELEBRATION OF UNITY, CULTURE, AND LEADERSHIP



It was a day of honour, unity, and renewed commitment to Igbo values as the newly constituted Executives of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Bende LGA Chapter were successfully inaugurated on Thursday, 30th October 2025, at the Bende Local Government Headquarters.


The colourful ceremony drew distinguished personalities, traditional leaders, political figures, and cultural enthusiasts from across Abia State, marking a new dawn for Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Bende.


The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and cultural pride as guests converged to witness the formal swearing-in of the new team of leaders who will pilot the affairs of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Bende LGA. The event, described by many as historic and unifying, reflected the collective desire of the people to uphold Igbo identity and strengthen socio-cultural development at the grassroots.



GOODWILL MESSAGES AND ENCOURAGEMENT


In his keynote address, Dr. C. C. Okwuonu, the President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Abia State, charged the new executives to be true ambassadors of the Igbo nation by promoting the core values of the apex socio-cultural organization—unity, integrity, progress, and mutual respect. He emphasized that Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is not a political organization but a cultural institution dedicated to the advancement and protection of Igbo interests, heritage, and identity.


The Chairman of the Occasion, Hon. Dr. Ibekwe Nnamdi Chimdi-OziomaChi, Honourable Member representing Bende North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, commended the new executives for accepting the call to serve. He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by living up to expectations and working harmoniously with relevant stakeholders to move Bende forward. He further called on them to support the transformational agenda of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, whose visionary leadership is redefining governance and development across Abia State.


The Chief Host and Mayor of Bende LGA, Deacon Bassey Uwabunkeonye, expressed delight at the peaceful and successful inauguration. He assured the executives of his administration’s unwavering support in promoting the ideals of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo within the local government. According to him, the unity and cooperation of Igbo sons and daughters remain vital to the peace and progress of Bende and Abia State at large.



ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT


In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the newly inaugurated executives, Elder Peter Agwu Okorie, who spoke on behalf of his team, appreciated everyone who contributed to the success of the occasion. He pledged to run an inclusive, transparent, and people-oriented administration that will ensure every member of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Bende LGA is carried along.


Elder Okorie reaffirmed his commitment to preserving Igbo culture and promoting unity among Bende people and the entire Igbo nation.
